Overview
The purpose of the community design initiative is to grow the depth and breadth of technical resources on Rocketboards.org with contributions made directly by the community. We are actively seeking individuals (and teams) who wish to share their designs, experience, and expertise. Specifically, we are looking for design projects (i.e. application code, FPGA hardware), and/or "how-to" articles that can be posted and shared. To minimize out-of-pocket expense, we propose using the
Atlas-SoC kit as the development platform, but projects targeting any commercially available
SoC board are welcome. Below is a brief list of project ideas for your inspiration:
- Digital "carpenter's level" using the Atlas-SoC board accelerometer and LEDs
- Audio spectrum analyzer using the A/D converter and FFT hardware in the FPGA (Atlas-SoC)
- Projects using an Arduino shield or Terasic daughter card (e.g. motor control, datalogger, TFT display, camera, WiFi, GSM, etc.)
- Bitcoin miner
- "Best practice" article for creating a build system, device driver debug, board bring-up, etc.
What's in it for you
Everyone who uses Rocketboards.org will benefit from the new projects, code, and articles posted.
But on a more personal note, all contributors will receive an Atlas-SoC/Rocketboards
challenge coin in recognition of their efforts, and be listed on the
Rocketboards Wall Of Fame. The coin has no monetary value but does increase the owner's prestige and status within the community. And, most importantly, it gives you bragging rights!
The coins are uniquely numbered and given out in sequence; the lower the number, the greater your status in the community as an early contributor.
