Al­tera Nios II Lin­ux ker­nel has merged with Al­tera ARM based SoC

Al­tera an­nounces the re­lease of Al­tera Nios II Lin­ux on the v3.9 Lin­ux ker­nel, built with the lat­est ver­sion of the Nios II GCC com­pil­er, ver­sion 4.7.3. The Al­tera Nios II Lin­ux ker­nel has now merged with the Al­tera ARM based SoC Lin­ux and can be found un­der the same re­lease branch on Rock­etBoards.org.

Nios II Lin­ux v3.9 ker­nel in­cor­po­rates the fol­low­ing changes:

-New process han­dler with new copy­_thread() im­ple­men­ta­tion

-Added fu­tex sup­port

-Added IRQ do­main sup­port

-Im­proved ex­cep­tion han­dling that avoid­ed dou­ble TLB miss

-Switched to gener­ic syscall for sigal­stack(), sig­sus­pend(), sigac­tion(), fork(), vfork()

-Le­ga­cy and re­dun­dant code clean up

-Li­cense head­er clean up
